Lilian Shtereva is a Bulgarian born, New York City based artist. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria. Her work is noted for its organic composition, the connection between linen, pigment, solvent, sand, botanical matter. The work implies politics of insistent experimentation and an embrace of ruin. Many of the paintings are in process, exhibiting traces of vegetation, storms, winds and earth.
“I am interested in the process more than the result.”
